Reception Newsletter 2/10/2016

Mead Primary School Reception Newsletter

Date 03 .09.2016

Our Reception children did very well this week in coping with a whole week in school. There were a few tired eyes on Thursday and Friday but on the whole a very happy week was had. It was nice to see Nursery friends reunited as the morning children met the afternoon children. It has also been lovely seeing the new children to Mead already forging strong friendships.
Lunch time seems to be the most difficult time for some of the children. To help make it easier for your child please look at the options below and see which choice suits your child the most. If the choices are not food that your child would eat please send in a packed lunch.
The choices are :-

Monday        Beef burger -red   or        Quorn burger- green

Tuesday        Sweet chilli pasta-red   or   cheese and tomato pizza -green

Wednesday   Lemon and Thyme chicken thigh-red   or quorn and tomato pasta -green

Thursday      Roasted pork loin-red   or vegetarian sausage roll -green

Friday           fish fillet with lemon wedge- red or   homemade cheesy leak pasta-green

Thank you so much for the hard work that you are putting into reading with your child. It was lovely to read so many positive comments in the yellow home school diaries, your support is so beneficial. We will now be looking to see which children have read three times a week at home. The class that has the most children achieving this will win a special award to hang up on their classroom door and get a special mention in assembly.
The first week of full change for P.E is always difficult in Reception classes. We are sorry that a couple of articles of clothing were mislaid after last week lesson and are trying to rectify this by checking all children have the right clothes. If you could help by checking all school clothes have your child`s name in and your child has not accidently come home in the wrong uniform we would really appreciate it. Also if you could support your child in practising getting dressed and undressed it would make these sessions a lot easier.
Next week many of our activities in school will be based on the story of the Rainbow fish by Marcus Pfister. The Rainbow fish is a beautiful looking fish with shiny scales. He has the difficult decision of whether to share his scales with his friends. This story has some very important messages in Personal and social development. It covers the aspects of sharing, the importance of friendship and that beauty comes from within. We will be embarking on some craft work based on the story and using discussion to discuss the main themes. We would still appreciate old Cds if you have any at home. On Friday we are really looking forward to our Rainbow Fish drama workshop where the story will be brought to life for the children.
Please remember to send in your child`s Wow certificates. The children are so proud to stand at the front while we share their amazing achievements.
In your child`s book bag on Monday there will be a leaf shape. If you could write your aspiration for your child`s Reception year on the leaf and send it back to school we will display them. Aspirations will be personal to each parent but they may be something like:-
`For my child to be happy and make friends` or `For my child to learn to read simple books. `
Look out for messages and pictures on the Mead Primary School face book page and the Mead Primary School website. Please remember to speak with school staff if there is anything you are unsure of or you have any concerns.

We look forward to another good week in school with our new children
