Egypt class have had amazing attendance the last few weeks which meant they got to roll the dice of the attendance-opoly board!
We were delighted when we landed on “Forest Fun” and the children voted to toast marshmallows during their usual Forest school session as an extra special treat!
After reading The Winter Bird by Kate Banks, the children in Egypt wanted to help the birds who are struggling to find food this winter. Therefore, we made bird feeders using natural materials. The children used a clove hitch knot to tie the string to the stick securely. We were so proud of the children’s determination and resilience with tricky knots.
Some children also enjoyed digging in the mud and looking at micro habitats. Aaliyah noticed some interesting marks in the bark which was evidence that a small creature had once used this as their home. Other children enjoyed digging for worms and could explain why the worms liked living in the mud.
The slack line was also used by many to practise their balancing skills. The children showed excellent turn-taking, teamwork and encouragement for their peers. 🌿🍃🌳 🦅
Kenya have had a Christmassy afternoon in the forest. Children enjoyed making Santa’s sleigh out of logs and using a potato peeler to make Rudolph.
Children were incredibly safe with this tool and could recall how to keep safe when using it. We kept our distance, wore gloves on our helper hand and peeled away from our body. 🎄 🎅
