England Class History Hillforts

England class enjoyed learning about hillforts in history. They imagined they were in the Iron Age and created their own battle plans. They were VERY keen to hide their plans from the other groups! See our videos here: https://www.facebook.com/meadprimary

Year 2 Exciting Explorers!

Year 2 have loved the start of their history unit on Explorers.

So far, we have learnt about the 29-year voyage of Ibn Battuta and we have studied Marco Polo’s famous journey along the ancient Silk Road.

Children walked along their own Silk Road in the playground looking at items that Marco Polo would have traded and brought back to Europe.

Ask your child:

- Who was Ibn Battuta?

- What did Marco Polo bring back to Europe?

Amazing artefacts

Archaeologists dig all around the world finding artefacts that allow us to delve into history and the lives of people who lived long before us.

Today, Italy class completed their own archaeological dig. On the tables were 6 trays with artefacts from a historical period in time. They needed to dig up the artefacts, decide what they thought the item was used for and what it tells us about the people who lived during that time.

Brazil visits The British Museum

On the last day of half term, Brazil visited the The British Museum to finish our History topic: The Kingdom of Benin. We saw many artefacts, videos and fascinating art work as well as completing activities all about the items we found! We had a fantastic day and had members of the public tell us how polite we were! We are very proud of you Brazil Class!
