Reception Newsletter-17/10/2016
Our super work on different Rainbow Fish stories continued this week with children decorating Cds like sparkly rainbow fish, threading, ordering Rainbow Fish numbers and fishing for phonics. Our story for next week is Owl Babies a story where the young owls miss their mum when she goes to get them food. We will talk with the children about things that they find hard and things that might make them feel sad.It is unbelievable that our children have nearly completed their first half term in Reception. We very much look forward to our parent`s meetings this week to give you an opportunity to find out how your child has settled and for you to share any important information with school staff. If you haven`t yet made an appointment please sign up for a time on Monday morning. Meetings are Monday and Wednesday from 3.30.
Lunch times continue to go well. The children are becoming more independent and there are less tears where children have food that they do not want to eat. Please can you continue to work with your child to ensure they are competent in using a knife and a fork to eat.
To continue helping the children to thrive please look at the options below and
see which choice suits your child the most. If the choices are not food that
your child would eat please send in a packed lunch. Choices are from Week 1 of
the menu.
The
choices are :-
Monday sausages-red or quorn pasta bolognaise bake- green
Tuesday Southern style chicken fillet-red or quorn burger-green
Wednesday pepperoni pizza-red or jacket potato with cheese -green
Thursday Roast chicken fillet-red or vegetarian sausage
-green
Friday fish fingers- red or macaroni cheese -green
Thank
you once again for your support in helping at home with your child`s reading. Some people are hearing their child every night and when their child comes to read they are confident and happy to talk about their book.
It really is an enormous benefit to each child to have this support so please try and spend just five minutes every day in helping them. Then please remember to sign those
reading diaries every time you read with your child. Barbados Class currently have the most children reading three or more times at home so let`s see if St Lucia or Jamaica can beat them this week.
This
week during our Read, write inc sessions we covered the
sounds:-
p-p-p pirateo-o-o-orange
c-c-c caterpillar
During
our number sessions we met the characters Sir Seven, Eric Eight, Nina nine bows and Tia Ten .It is lovely to see the children practising their numbers and letters during different times in their day. We are trying to encourage children to write or make a representation of their name so they can add their name to their pictures and writing. If you can help your child with this we would really appreciate it.
Please
remember to send in your child`s Wow certificates. The ones we have had have
been so lovely. The children are so proud to stand at the front while we share
their amazing achievements.Please
can you also remember to send back your child`s aspirations leaf. Once again it
is wonderful to read about your hopes and wishes for your children.`
Please
continue to look out for messages and pictures on the Mead Primary School face
book page and the Mead Primary School website. Please remember to speak with
school staff if there is anything you are unsure of or you have any
concerns.
We
look forward to another good week in school with your children and wishing you a lovely and relaxing half term. School Closes as normal at 3.00 on Friday 21st and opens again at 8.30 on Monday 31st October.
