Year 3 Superstars

Well done to the children below who received certificates this work for their hard work.

Year 2 Are Astronauts!

In year 2, we have been learning about Neil Armstrong and the first moon landing.

We have watched real footage from astronauts who explore the moon - looking at the lots of different aspects. We found it fascinating that scientists are currently researching a way to place solar panels on the moon to produce electricity for us to use on Earth.

After all of our investigating, we made our own moon rocks ðŸš€ ðŸŒš

Ask your child - Does the moon shine?

Caterpillar, caterpillar

This week our poetry basket poem, tied in beautifully with the arrival of our caterpillars. Through our poem we learnt all about the life cycle of a butterfly.

Butterflies in Nursery

We have been looking at caterpillars and butterflies this week and one of our favourite activities was painting symmetrical butterflies.

                                                                 We painted on one side.

We carefully folded the paper in half and pressed.

We unfolded and saw a beautiful butterfly.

Y1 Music- Little spiders

This week, Year 1 children were looking at the structure of music composition using Bati Strauss' method.

This method lets children know classical pieces through so - called ''active listening'' which requires performing  easy rhythmic choreography to music using gestures and percussion instruments. The form of story- telling is very often used.

The children listened to La Basque- a baroque dance and were told a story about little spiders working hard to make their webs.

Colour spotters in the forest

Antigua were fantastic nature colour spotters on Wednesday afternoon. They explored the field and found lots of dandelions and daisys. We then sorted our finds by colour.

Then in the forest we found green leaves, brown mud and black charcoal. We used the colours to make natural paint and experimented with using sticks and leaves as paintbrushes.

There was even time to do some bird watching and it was very exciting to watch the Robin come and visit. The digging area was ever as popular and we found a whole worm family but were sure to return them to their habitat before we left.

Colour hunting in the forest

Nurture Forest school group had a great time this  morning in the hammocks, doing some bird watching and following the trail through the cowslip parsley. They did a colour hunt around the forest finding as many colours as possible and constructed colourful spinning plates to show the variety of colours we can be seen in nature this time of the year.

Float

In our English lessons, we have been looking at the picture book ‘Float’ by Daniel Miyares.

The book tells the story of a little boy who takes a boat made of newspaper   out for a rainy-day adventure. The boy and his boat dance in the downpour    and play in the puddles, but when the boy sends his boat floating down a gutter stream, it quickly gets away from him. So, of course, the little boy goes  on the hunt for his beloved boat and when the rain lets up, he finds himself on a new adventure altogether.

In our initial lesson, the pupils had to follow a set of instructions to create their own paper boat. They did well and each made their own boat. They now can’t wait to test whether it will FLOAT!!
