Antigua Forest School

Antigua loved their visit to Forest School. We enjoyed noticing lots of signs of Spring as the flowers were beginning to bloom on our walk through the fields to the forest. We began the session with game of giant rock, paper, scissors which brought out our competitiveness and collaboration skills. The hammock was a hit with lots of children learning how to safely get in and out without spinning completely over! Then enjoying some sky gazing whilst gently swaying in it. Our new birds were a firm favourite with many children identifying them by matching them to pictures and listening to the differnt calls they make. All in all another fun afternoon in the forest last week.

Jamaica Forest School

Jamaica enjoyed their turn this week of going on a walk before entering the forest to spot signs of Spring. They did a great job of noticing many tiny buds on the trees as well as some small flowers in bloom. 

In the forest they were careful to look around to be sure not to trample on the bluebells beginning to grow across the forest floor. They enjoyed climbing the tree, digging for worms and making concoctions as always in the mud kitchen! 

Barbados Forest School

This week Barbados enjoyed going for a walk through the field before entering Forest School. We were looking for signs of spring and the children did a great job of spotting even the smallest of buds on the tree branches. 

With all the rain that has fallen, the ground was super soggy and was the perfect opportunity for us all to enjoy squelching as we walked in our wellie boots! 

As we entered Forest School we spotted all of the daffodil bud clusters which was the perfect opportunity to begin our discussions of our nature study this week - Spring Flowers. 

We look forward to visiting the forest again soon to see the daffodils and bluebells in full bloom. 

Barbados Forest School

Barbados enjoyed their trips to the forest this half term. 

Last week many of them enjoyed climbing the tree as it was a nice dry day and the mud kitchen was ever as popular to concoct some forest delights! 

The bird feeders that had been made by the other reception classes had been enjoyed by the birds so Barbados class replenished the bare branches with more seeds for the birds to enjoy.  

                                 

We also noticed some beginnings of spring and were careful not to trample on the shoots we could see coming up through the ground. We placed some large sticks around to protect the new bluebells beginning to grow. 

Great conservation of the forest Barbados.  

Jamaica Forest School

Jamaica class loved their visits to the forest this half term. 

On their first visit they enjoyed playing games to remember where our boundaries are at forest school  and then they played a great game of Freeze Tag. Afterwards they enjoyed exploring the forest and found that under an upturned log there were plenty of insects to observe. 

                                       

Many children made stick bird feeders and hung them up around the sparse branches of the forest for the birds to find. We even had a couple of visitors flying over during our reflection time.
