Brazil visits The British Museum

On the last day of half term, Brazil visited the The British Museum to finish our History topic: The Kingdom of Benin. We saw many artefacts, videos and fascinating art work as well as completing activities all about the items we found! We had a fantastic day and had members of the public tell us how polite we were! We are very proud of you Brazil Class!

Year 2 visit the Tower!

This week Year 2 had an amazing day out at the Tower of London furthering their historical knowledge.  Although, it was a very busy and a tiring day travelling on the train and visiting the Tower fun was had by all. The children were well behaved, polite and so attentive. Luckily, Tower Bridge was opening as we arrived and the children enjoyed seeing that. We also managed to see 'The Crown Jewels', The Armoury, The Beefeaters and the Ravens, as well as experiencing a fun packed workshop.  The workshop deepened our understanding of the Great Fire of London using role play in the White Tower. At times our lunches were at risk as the Ravens were very cheeky and even managed to steal some sandwiches!  We didn't mind as we know they are the guardians of the Tower. There was not a minute to spare in our heavy schedule!

Encourage your child to amaze you with the facts they have learnt.

Palau Class trip to the London Eye

Today Palau Class went on a trip to the London Eye. We enjoyed going on the bus and the tube just like in our story the Queen’s Hat. We had fun trying to spot all the different famous landmarks we have been learning about including, the London Eye and Big Ben. In the distance we could also see some King’s Guards practising their marching. We had lots of fun exploring London today. We are going to use our experience to write travel journals to persuade people to go and explore London.

Year 3 visit The Science Museum.

What an incredible trip year 3 had! The Science Museum was full of surprises and fascination. We had the opportunity to explore a few of the different exhibits that were available. These included flight, space and technology just to name a few. Some examples of old flying machines, planes from World War as well as some modern planes. The children enjoyed seeing all the different styles of planes. Heading to space we were able to enjoy 3D images of the different planets and moon in our solar system as well as learning about the missions to the moon. There was even a replica of the Eagle that took Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin down to the moon's surface.

Year 3 continued their visit with a workshop. This term one of our units in science is looking at forces. The workshop that we participated in was all about forces. We learnt about Newton's three laws of motion using real life examples. We discovered that an apple and a hammer being dropped from the same height at the same time will hit the ground at the same moment due to a force called gravity. We repeated the same experiment with a feather and hammer, however the wind resistance meant that the hammer hit the ground first. This same experiment with the feather and hammer was performed on the moon. Can you determine the result? We had an incredible day.
