Amazing Resilience at Forest School this week

Resilience was on display today as everyone tried and tried again to light their own fire. We had a range of emotions including excitement, nerves and anticipation. Some took to the new skill straight away but most found it the challenge that it is. Many sat in the respect position for a long time trying again and again and again until they succeeded. Which resulted in a high sense of achievement and lots sounds of joy! Well done to everyone for their determination and resilience.

Newspaper features hunt

The writing genre that we in Year 6 are focusing on for the next 2 weeks is Newspaper reports with the aim at the end to write a newspaper report about the sinking of the Titanic. Yesterday, they worked together in groups to find different articles within our local newspaper, ‘The Romford Recorder’. This task required us to use all of our 4 R’s: Reciprocity (collaborate effectively and listening to others), Reflectiveness (identifying key features), Resilience (to persevere and focus on the task) and Resourcefulness (being curious about learning).

The Grand Opening!

The wait is finally over.

This week Year 1 experienced their new outdoor area for the first time. The children have been really excited to try out their new play area; it has already been very popular.

Their new outdoor learning environment encourages children to work on their reciprocity, resilience, reflectiveness and resourcefulness as they make their way around the new equipment.
