SUPER YEAR ONES SAVE THE DAY

To conclude our superhero topic the children received a very special treat of a visit from Divergent Drama.  To begin the workshop we warmed up our bodies, faces and voices.  We played some fun superhero games such as the exaggerate game and also put lots of weird and wonderful ingredients in our superhero potion before giving it a big stir and tasting it and then discovering what superpower it gave us.  Finally we created our own story, acting out the different parts to help our hero save the day.  It was great fun!

Staying Safe Online

We know that when used correctly technology has an important part to play in education. However, there has recently been a lot of media coverage regarding unsuitable material that is circulating around many social media outlets. We speak to pupils frequently in school about staying safe online and ensure that they know how to report upsetting or inappropriate activity online. It is also important that we remind parents and carers regularly about parental controls, age limits and appropriate supervision of children online. Keeping in touch with your children about: what they are watching; why they are watching it; how it makes them feel; and what to do if they are worried or upset by anything they come across on-line are great ways of opening up a positive dialogue around the use of social media and computer games. Further information for parents can be found in the links below.

Confirmed Case of COVID-19 at Mead Primary School - Italy class

Friday 22nd October 2021

Dear Parents and Carers in Italy,

Confirmed Case of COVID-19 at Mead Primary School

Today, we have been notified that a member of staff in Italy has tested positive for COVID-19. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child.

Changes in guidance for schools now mean that children can remain in school but all contacts are strongly advised to get a PCR test as soon as possible. Children and staff should remain in school until
the results of the PCR test have been received. Please inform school as soon as possible if the PCR test
result is positive.

If your child has or develops a cough, runny nose or any other symptoms, you are strongly advised to get them tested. Please inform the school immediately if your child tests positive.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19

● Remain at home

● Take a PCR test

● Contact the school immediately

Individuals are not required to self-isolate if they live in the same household as someone with COVID-19,or are a close contact of someone with COVID-19, and any of the following apply:

● they are fully vaccinated

● they are below the age of 18 years and 6 months

● they have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial

● they are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

Symptoms

The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:

● new continuous cough and/or

● high temperature

● a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness. If your child or anyone in the household does develop symptoms, you can seek advice online at Symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or by phoning NHS 111.

How to stop COVID-19 spreading

There are things you can do to help reduce the risk of you and anyone you live with getting ill with

COVID-19:

● wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds

● use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

● wash your hands as soon as you get home

● cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or

sneeze

● put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Year 3 - Forest School - Week 4

Today was all about birds. We started off by finding a nest and thinking about what it was made from - sticks, twigs, leaves and mud. We went bird watching with binoculars, made our own giant nests and decorated bird masks. The time flew and we made it back into class just in time for the eve of the day. See you after half term Year 3.

Well done Year 3!

Year Six

A great display of work on division using known multiplication facts and from the Year 6 pupils today. Well done 👏👍 Ms Holmes
