Palau Class Forest School.

Palau class were very lucky this afternoon as the sun came out for us to go to forest school! It was still quite cold though so we all made sure that we were wrapped up warm. We spent time looking at the sky and talking about winter weather and seasonal changes.  We made shelters for some of the forest animals to keep them warm and cosy. We foraged in the forest to make our own bird pictures.  The children made music, explored the mud kitchen and took  turns to swing the hammocks. We made sure that we moved  big logs safely and worked together to make our animal dens. We had time to play some forest school games together and sing some songs

Palau Class Forest School

Palau class had a lovely (but cold) time at forest school this week. We discussed the recent storms and noticed any changes that had happened as a result. We played in the mud kitchen and dug some holes. While we were digging we found some friendly worms who we measured to find out their lengths. Some worms measured 3cms! We swung each other in the hammock and practiced our balance on the logs and tension rope.

Finally we constructed Santa's Sleigh out of logs and sang Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer to make the sleigh magical.

Palau Forest School

Palau had a fantastic time at their first forest school session in year one. We played a clapping game to practice our listening and focussing skills and then it was time to explore! The children were able to choose to make a medal that they decorated with their forest school initial, we had Mark Mouse, Isabelle Insect and Ava Ant to name a few!

The children enjoyed using the hammock, building a boat (like the one in our book Grandad's Island) from the logs and making music on the mushrooms using twigs and sticks. We were very lucky with the autumnal weather and had a lovely afternoon. 😊
