Brazil meets Antarctica!

In Brazil class we conducted an experiment using ziploc bags and margarine to recreate the effect of blubber in Emperor Penguins. As well as our experiment we watched a fascinating documentary narrated by David Attenborough as we prepare to write our Non-chronological report on Emperor Penguins in English in the coming weeks!

Money, money, money!

This week Brazil have begun our money unit in Maths. We've had lots of fun using manipulatives and describing the relationship between coins of different values. Here we are hard at work:

Welcome to Brazil!

In our first week in Year 5, Brazil class spent a few afternoons exploring the country we are named after. After diving into the world of the Rio carnival, the amazon rainforest and the amazon river, we created some fantastics pieces of work to display so everyone could learn about Brazil! Here is just some examples of our learning in action and the fantastic work we produced!

How tall are we now? - Year 5

Last week, Year 5 were looking at imperial and metric measurements. In Brazil class, we discovered that, in the United Kingdom, we use a mixture of both so understanding this would be a key life skill. Here we are measuring our height in feet and inches and centimetres (and comparing it to our first day in Year 5 all those months ago - my how we have grown!!)

Year 5's Brazil visit Tower of London!

On Friday, Brazil were the last Year 5 class to visit the Tower of London. We had so much fun discovering the different towers and the history that the Tower of London holds. We spent our morning visiting the crown jewels, learning all about the two missing princes and even saw the spot where Henry VIII's second wife Anne Boleyn was executed! We then finished the day off with a fantastic pirate workshop and a few of us even got involved!
