Money, money, money!

 This week Brazil have begun our money unit in Maths. We've had lots of fun using manipulatives and describing the relationship between coins of different values. Here we are hard at work:

England Class Maths Lesson

England class practised adding 1s across a 10. They worked in pairs and coached their partner using different methods. Everyone worked really hard!

Doubling Numbers in Year 5

In Mastering Number today, we explored why doubling a number always gives us an even number. We checked this with our talk partner by matching the double on our hands. We also used the '5-and-a-bit' strategy to help us when doubling numbers.

Year 4 - collecting data

Following our trip, we used our tally charts to draw our own pictograms. These pictograms represented the number of different types of plants and trees we saw on our trip. We also had to relate to our previous maths lessons to remember how to draw our pictograms and work out how many each picture needed to represent.

Data collection

Yesterday, Italy class went on a nature walk to collect data. As they were walking around the local environment, the pupils needed to write down any plants that they saw and keep a tally chart recording how many of each plant they saw. They saw lots of different types of plants such as thistles, pyracantha crenulata, berberis, dandelions, black nightshade, summer lilac and rosehip.
