 Well done to all our year 1, 2 and 3 certificate winners this week.

Palau Class Forest School.

 Palau class were very lucky this afternoon as the sun came out for us to go to forest school! It was still quite cold though so we all made sure that we were wrapped up warm. We spent time looking at the sky and talking about winter weather and seasonal changes.  We made shelters for some of the forest animals to keep them warm and cosy. We foraged in the forest to make our own bird pictures.  The children made music, explored the mud kitchen and took  turns to swing the hammocks. We made sure that we moved  big logs safely and worked together to make our animal dens. We had time to play some forest school games together and sing some songs

 Congratulations to all the children in years 1, 2 and 3 that have received certificates this week. Well done to the children that have achieved outside of school.

Year 1 Drawing

In year 1 art, we started the year drawing the characters from the story Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. The children listened to the story and drew the characters from the descriptions given. They used their imagination and created beautiful dogs!

We were focusing in our first few lessons how to use pencils in different ways; to create textures.

Then we explored using pastels and chalks in different ways to draw spirals, and snails. We noticed how we use our fingers, hands, wrists, arms and shoulders when drawing!

We also drew careful observational drawings of shells which were very difficult because of the intricate detail. We explored the patterns and lines on the shells before drawing them using sketching pencils.

 Congratulations to all the children in years 1, 2 and 3 that have worked hard and earned themselves a certificate. Keep up the amazing work and we look forward to recognising next week's amazing learners.

Not only have we incredible learners in school, but we have also had children achieving outside of school in activities such as gymnastics, jujitsu and diving.
