Why did the Romans have weapons?
How long did the Romans live in Britain for?
What were Roman schools like?
These were just some of the questions that pupils from Mead wanted answered, when they visited the ancient remains of a Roman Villa in Lullingstone, Kent this week.
The pupils had a fascinating time, examining artefacts and reading secondary sources of information.
By the end of the day, they had gained an insight into what life was like in Roman times, and how crowded the public toilets used to be! Everyone was relieved that we now use toilet paper, instead of a communal sponge on a stick, like the Romans used to do!
We can't wait to find out more about the Romans, particularly their army, over the next few weeks.
If Year 4 pupils want to do some more research about this topic at home, they can bring in their findings to share with the class.
For example, why not make your own mosaic, or a poster about Roman foods?
