England Class RE

England class were learning about artefacts that you might find in a Jewish home in RE. They remembered a lot!

 

Judaism in year 3

 Year 3 have began their RE lessons. We have started to learn all about Judaism. This week we looked at how the Shema is one of the most important Jewish Prayers. Shema means to hear or listen. After finding out that the Shema can be found inside a Mezuzah we designed our own Mezuzahs.

England Class RE

 England Class made flower garlands in our RE lesson about Hinduism. We really enjoyed learning about Hindu worship. 

Hinduism in year 3.

 This term in RE year 3 are looking at where, how and why do people worship. Today Northern Ireland looked at Hinduism. Shree and Sai were able to share some of their own knowledge and experiences. To finish off the lesson we created our own garlands, which we were able to take home. It was a lovely activity that everyone enjoyed being a part of. Shree said that she makes garlands at home.

Spring RE in year 3.

 This term in RE, year three have been looking at celebrations in different religions. We looked at how Christians celebrate Easter, how Jewish people celebrate Pesach (Passover) and how Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. Emaan, Mahir and Aleeza shared their knowledge of Islam with the class. Mahir, brought in his Qur'an to show the class. Emaan spoke about how she learns to read Arabic. And Aleeza shared some videos and photos of her pilgrimage known as Umrah. It was a pleasure to listen and further our own knowledge and understanding.

Year 2 Church Visit

 As part of the start of our RE topic on Christianity, yesterday year 2 visited the St Paul’s Church. We sensibly walked there and sat on the pews. Richard, the vicar, told the story of Zacchaeus through art and song. The children were so well behaved and listened beautifully. They loved asking questions at the end!
