Dear Parents and Carers,

Mathletics

World Maths Day has now finished and Mead have lots to celebrate! Max in year 5 finished 8th in the world and 1st in the UK. Nathan in year 2 finished 20th in the world and 2nd in the UK. Riddhi in year 6 finished 75th in the world and 15th in the UK. Year 1 were the 61st school in the world and 5th in the UK. Year 2 were the 51st school in the world and 1st in the UK. What an incredible achievement for everyone who participated and played a part in putting Mead well as truly on the Map! We are so proud of you all.

Pupil Parliament

I had the opportunity to meet with Pupil Parliament this week, who have been going into lessons to look at how the children in each class have been engaging with their learning. They offered a wonderful insight and shared some wonderful suggestions on what they would like to improve and I was extremely proud to hear of all of the wonderful examples of Mead role models that we have across our school. We will be working closely together to develop our collaborative learning approach and reviewing our behaviour policy.

Strike action

Industrial action is due to take place again next week on Wednesday and Thursday. We are likely to have a partial opening for some pupils whose teachers are not striking as we did before. Where we know this in advance we will inform you. I will share further details on Monday by letter. Thank you all for your continued support of all of the teaching staff during this time.

Parent Hub Mothers Day Gift Shop

Next Friday 17th March, the Parent hub has arranged for a Mother’s Day sale where the children can choose from a selection of beautiful handcrafted gifts for £2. The children will be invited throughout the day to choose and purchase their gift for their chosen adult. There will only be the option of purchasing 1 gift per child. Please make sure you send in the money with them to school so that they can participate.

Red Nose Day

Next Friday is Red Nose Day. Pupil Parliament will be sharing different activities that the children will be able to compete throughout the day. Children are invited to wear a red accessory. Donations are not compulsory but should you wish to donate, Pupil Parliament will collect any donations throughout the day.
