Reception went on their very own space exploration this morning, which left them in awe and wonder. As we entered the hall, we were met with an enormous dome shape, Caine said "I'm excited" and so our adventure began. We got up close and personal to all of the planets in our solar system as they orbited around us and learnt some fun facts as we travelled into outer space. Zara said "Venus is the hottest planet" and we learnt that it is 460 degrees during the day and night. We also discovered Venus is the brightest planet in the sky as it reflects the sun. We discovered many planets have not just one but two moons and some like Titan is the biggest moon on Saturn. When we saw Earth orbit around us, Angie said "That's planet Earth, my house is over there!" and Ifra said "Earth is just perfect, we can live on it". We discovered how long it takes for each of the planets to orbit the sun, Neptune takes 164 years compared to Mercury taking 88 days and every year Earth orbits the sun. To finish off our space exploration we got to watch Apollo 11 take-off, Oscar recalled that Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon and Nellie recalled his famous words "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
There was lots of excited faces as we departed the dome, with many children keen to share their adventures in space.
