Today, in our History lesson, Italy class got the opportunity of looking at different Anglo-Saxon artefacts before our visit to the British Museum on Wednesday. They had a carousel of 5 different activities linked to the different artefacts. They enjoyed finding out more about the culture and beliefs of the Anglo-Saxons.
1) On one table they had to write their 'Heroic Code'. The Heroic Code was very important for the Anglo-Saxons.
Here are Majus and Maria's Heroic Code.
2) The second activity was to examine the jewellery that Anglo-Saxons wore. They had to think about who might have worn it and why.
3) Another activity was to draw their own sword and shield. There were example pieces on the table but they then needed to add their own flair!
4) One activity was to look at the runes and then write their name.
5) The final activity was to look at some coins and pots. They had to think about their uses in Anglo-Saxon times.
