In year 6 art, we have been exploring our identity through portraits. We have drawn several quick (5minute) sketches in portrait club.
We learned about the artist Mike Barrett and how he creates his designs using layers of collages, paint, printing, and pen. Here is an example of his work.
We used this as inspiration for our own layered portraits created over three weeks.
We drew our portrait in pencil, biro and handwriting pen. Then we created our background using collage and watercolour paint. After that we put them together and added another layer using oil pastel, coloured pencil, and pen to bring it all together, adding hidden messages and finishing touches.
