This week children in year 3 were looking at the structure of musical compositions. They listened to one of the most recognizable classical tunes called ''William Tell Overture'' composed by Rossini and had to distinguish between different sections. The children analysed the structure by listening to changes in rhythm, tonality, tempo and dynamics. They found the contrasting parts easily and some of them were even able to sing the main motive of the piece. Then they played a rhythmic ostinato to music using percussion instruments.
