Reception Newsletter Spring 2 Week 3

Dear Parents,
Our apologies for the school closures last week. It is never a decision that is taken lightly to close the school but the safety of the children is always at the heart of our decisions. Hopefully the weather will now improve and we can start to look forward to Spring.

World Book Day
It was disappointing that we could not go ahead with World Book Day, as I know a number of children were looking forward to showing off their costumes. We will be re-scheduling, hopefully this coming Friday, but we are waiting for confirmation from a visitor, who was supposed to join us for the day. Please keep an eye on the blog and we will post updates.

This week our work will revolve around talking about ,thinking about and answering questions about `Our Mums`. We will be reading the Nick Butterworth story `My Mum is fantastic` .We will also be continuing with our Read. write Inc programme and in maths thinking about the number that is one more and the number that is one less.

Please remember to bring your child's named PE kits into school by Wednesday.

Lunch is from Week 2 of the Havering Catering Services Menu.

Builds stories around toys, e.g. farm animals needing rescue from an armchair 'cliff'.

Understanding the World:
Comments and asks questions about aspects of their familiar world such as the place where they live or the natural world.

Beginning to construct, stacking blocks vertically and horizontally, making enclosures and creating spaces

Learning Challenge

Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.

The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.

Possible Friday 9th March - World Book Day- Children can come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring £1 donation to help buy new books for the school
