Year 5 Science Week

For science week Year 5 completed three different activities, all of which were fun, exciting and practical. The children could experience what it was like making repairs to a space station in zero gravity wearing a spacesuit, create clouds in the classroom to gain a better understanding of the water cycle and create art using shaddows.

Year 5 took part in a science show. The show was based around bubbles, the children learnt how bubbles are formed. Some children even got encased in a bubble! Many children were very surprised to learn that it was possible to create flammable bubbles. Jaroslav in Mexico class, commented, “It was fun to create the biggest bubble I could, the way they popped was exciting to watch!“

Chase in USA class won the overall science week prize for year 5, with his biography of Sir Isaac Newton, which explained how the world would be different without him. He won a bouncing eyeball science kit and he has already put that to good use and managed to prove one of Sir Isaac Newton’s laws with it. Chase said “without Isaac Newton we would not have such a good understanding of the world and I am very proud to have won the prize.”
