In Topic, we are starting to learn about Earthquakes! Do you think that you could build a structure that would survive a (teacher/TA-made) earthquake? This is what we challenged year 3 to do! Using just straws, skewers and marshmallows or blu-tac the children had to build a structure which they thought would be strong enough to withstand an earthquake. The children finished their designs and then the teacher and TA shook the tables they were on, to represent an earthquake! Here are some of the children in action, creating their buildings!
“We had to build a very strong structure so it wouldn't fall down!” Kai Hope - Northern Ireland class.
“Team work was very important so that we could make a strong structure.” Kristupus Kulsinkus - Wales class.
