Wednesday was WE day and some of our Year 6 children were chosen to attend. After an early start and a three hour coach trip we finally arrived at the SSE Arena Wembley in time to celebrate the ways that children have transformed communities and changed lives across the world. At Mead we have already raised £180 for the WE The Goat That Gives Back campaign. The children listened to inspirational speeches from a cast of celebrity speakers including the Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, Lily Collins, Connor Franta, Katie Piper and Sophia Grace. The speeches explored many subjects including cyber bullying, gangs, body awareness, self confidence and fund raising for the many WE projects at home and abroad. It celebrated the work that schools have done to change the world for those less fortunate, highlighting a young lady who co-founded The Kids on the Green club following the Grenfell Tower fire last year. Alexandra Burke was among the many musicians who also entertained the audience. The highlight for most of the children was a performance by HRVY. This rounded off an informative and entertaining day which inspired Unnati to think about campaigning for clean water and Jessica to monitor the rubbish in the local area.
