Remembrance and survival were combined today at forest school. We created a couple of poppies (one from the children and one from natural items found in the forest - we had no red leaves so used yellow instead) to remember all those who gave their lives so that we could embrace today. Then the children split into groups to build and develop their ideas about surviving in the forest. What is the most important when it comes to survival? The children offered the following ideas; food, water, shelter, beds, fire (for warmth/cooking and light), medication, safety and entertainment. Teamwork was on display throughout the session and each group were able to explain what they prioritised. For most groups this was shelter and water. The time flew by and we were thankful for a packed afternoon.
Well done year 3!
