Freshwater Theatre Company visited us yesterday to help us travel back in time and a great time was had by all.
The children had fun engaging in a historical workshop exploring life in 1605 and the events of the Gunpowder plot. Through drama they recreated the events that led up to Guy Fawkes being arrested for high treason. During this session the children re-enacted how Guy Fawkes was captured under the Houses of Parliament on the night of the 5th November 1605. This workshop was a great way to capture the children's imaginations and it helped them remember the key facts of this historical event. It will lead on to us looking at how we celebrate this event today. On Friday we will use this experience and knowledge to help us write Firework poems using onomatopoeia.
