Science week in Year 2

Year 2 had fun last week during Science week.  The week started with a very special delivery of an incubator and ten eggs.  It has been wonderful for the children to see the eggs hatch and to name them.  Names like; Quackers, Waffle and Sunshine to name a few. Fortunately, some of the chicks will stay on our farm for the children to enjoy further.

We also carried out an experiment to see if we could make our own compass as part of our geography work.  The children used magnets and needles and made an actual working compass.

Then we met a scientist called 'Boffin Ollie' and he amazed us with his exciting experiments like making elephant toothpaste, exploding rockets and piercing a ballon with a needle without making it pop.
