In English, year 5 have been writing a non chronological report about Emperor Penguins. The children have looked at many things including; where they live, what they eat, how they survive the extreme conditions they live in, their unique attributes, and how the mother passes the egg to the father as soon as it has been laid so that she can go and get food.
As a class we tried to act like penguins and pass the 'egg' from one person to another just to see how difficult it was. All but 4 children managed to 'save the egg' from hitting the ice and freezing.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this task and it helped them with their writing when discussing the penguins special features and adaptations.
