In year 5 art, we have started a project to make 3D sculptures inspired by the artist and sculpture Alberto Giacometti. We are making an emotion piece where the person we create is doing something that is a reason for or displaying an emotion.
Giacometti made tall, thin metal sculptures with elongated arms and legs.
We began by sketching some stick people in our books. Then we used artstraws to create the frame for our chosen pose. We fixed the joins using masking tape. After that we needed a strong base so we anchored the frame in clay.
Then came the messy part: covering the whole frame in pva glue using our fingers! This will make the frame stronger and more water resistant for when we wrap it in modroc next lesson.
