Friday 28th June 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
With only three full weeks and 2 days left of this academic year, the staff and children at Mead are showing no signs of slowing down! We are currently planning our transition for all of the children for the next academic year but with trips, events and learning planned until the 23rd July it is really important that the children remain in school so that they don’t miss out on valuable learning and experiences.
Please be reminded that school is closed to all children on Thursday 4th July due to polling day.
Changes to the School day- September 2024
This week I wrote to all parents and carers regarding the proposed changes to the timings of the start and end of the school day. We have proposed the following new arrangements for our statutory school day from September 2024:
Gates open: 8:25am
Classrooms open: 8:30 am
Official Start of School Day: 8:40 am (all children to arrive in school by this time)
Gates open: 3:05pm
End of day for KS1 Pupils: 3:10 pm
End of day for KS2 Pupils: 3:15 pm
If you have any concerns or considerations that you would like us to take into account as we implement these changes, please do not hesitate to complete the Google form that can be accessed through the link provided by Tuesday 9th July.
Year 6 leavers performance
Year 6 have been working hard on their end of school performance. There will be two performances; one on Monday 15th at 2pm and one on Tuesday 16th at 9:30am. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the performance, we kindly ask you to choose which performance you would prefer to attend. Due to limited space, we regret to inform you that each family can only receive two tickets and attend one of the performances. A letter will be sent out today for you to select your preferred performance date and time.
Sports Days- Further information
This year, sports days will be taking place on the back field and not on the front field as they have been in recent years. Parents will be asked to wait at the side entrance next to the key stage 2 field and will be shown how to access the field by staff. To ensure a safe and enjoyable day for all, we kindly ask that you follow the expectations outlined below:
Safeguarding: In order to continue prioritising the safeguarding of our children, we regretfully cannot provide access to toilet facilities for visitors on the day.
Photography: You are welcome to take photographs of your own child. However, please refrain from sharing any images on social media that include other people's children without their consent.
Site Rules: Our school site is a strictly no smoking, no vaping and no dogs allowed area. Anyone found violating these rules may unfortunately be asked to leave the premises.
Dress Code: With the warm weather forecast, we advise dressing appropriately. Whilst we understand the desire to remove some clothing in warmer weather, we ask that t-shirts be worn at all times.
We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines to uphold a positive environment for the children. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
