Weekly Newsletter - Important Information
Friday 21st June 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week a small number of children in Year 3 and 4 represented Mead at the Havering Music Festival which took place at Queens Theatre. The children sang a range of songs from Musicals as well as an individual song from Wind in the Willows. The performance was wonderfully rehearsed and choreographed which led to a huge and very well deserved round of applause! A very big thank you to Mrs Kumszczynska for her hard work and dedication to Music across our school and particularly preparing the choirs for these events.
Scooters and bikes
We are really pleased to see so many children travelling to and from school on bikes and scooters. However, we need to make sure that everyone is safe so please do not ride around on bikes or scooters in the playground, as this may cause an accident. Please also make sure that all bikes and scooters are stored safely in the designated bike and scooter racks. There will be an additional scooter park at the Gate 3 entrance from September which will increase the storage capacity and reduce scooters and bikes being taken across the playground.
Summer Uniform
Please ensure that your child wears the correct school uniform to school every day. All children should wear: A bottle green sweatshirt or cardigan, collared white t-shirt, and black trousers or tailored skirt. Leggings and sports shorts are not part of the uniform policy and should not be worn to school. If you need support with uniform costs please speak to the office as some support may be available to you. PE Kits: plain black/grey jogging bottoms or black/green shorts and white t-shirt with appropriate footwear.
Sunglasses and Sunscreen
Please ensure that your child does not bring sunglasses into school or wear on the top of their head as an accessory. If your child needs to wear sunglasses due to medical reasons please send in a note explaining the medical needs to the office. A sunhat can be worn at break and lunch time to shield the children from the sun. Sunscreen should be applied before school. Should your child have any additional medical needs relating to warmer weather, please ensure a member of staff is made aware.
Reports
School reports will be sent out to parents on Friday 12th July. On Monday 15th July we will be holding an open afternoon 3:15pm-4:15pm to view your children's work and speak to a member of staff about your child’s report should you wish to.
Appointments
Where possible please avoid appointments during the school day. We have seen an increase in children being collected before the end of the day. If children are collected earlier than the end of the school day this may be added as an unauthorised absence depending on the reasons and evidence for this.
Sports Days
Please see below for the sports day and times for each year group. Please ensure that all children have their full PE kit in school on these days. We look forward to seeing you there.
