Yesterday, Year 6 went to the Queen Elizabeth Park for a BMX session on the remodelled Olympic track, with over 30 bumps, jumps and berms.
When we got there we split into 2 groups- the first group had their BMX session whilst the other group went into the park and then they swapped over. Children in the first group such as Ocean, Rowa and Isabelle were taught to ride a bike as previously they had only done so with stabilizers. What a great achievement! They now want to ask for a bike for their birthday.
The second group then had a great day learning how to ride the BMX bikes standing up and going over the different jumps. I was also surprised that all of the children went from the start ramp. The BMX start ramp has been cut in size by two thirds to 3.8m high, still the height of a double decker bus. I was so proud of them all.
