Vision & Values

Vision
Our vision is to ensure that we deliver nothing less than an outstanding school experience for your children, so that they have the very best start in life - they deserve nothing less. We believe that we can always find 1% gains to further improve what we do. It is very worrying that in 2016, where you are born in Havering still has such an impact on your life chances. There is a 7 year life expectancy gap between children born in Harold Hill and those born in Upminster. If we don’t provide a world class education and act responsibly as parents then we become part of the problem, rather than empowering our children to have a brighter future where they can choose their own place to live, work and raise a family.

Our united school community - which now numbers over 1,200 pupils and 120 staff - can be a powerful force for positive change and raising standards. By working together we will ensure that Mead & Broadford are the best schools on the Hill, and an education community that looks to put a dent in the universe much further afield too!

Values
To achieve these aspirational goals we will need to behave in a certain way everyday! These expectations are laid out below:
  • Turn up everyday… on time
  • Do your best in every lesson
  • Be kind and polite to everyone you meet
However we also need to have expectations of ourselves as adults: our behaviour, attitude and professionalism. We expect our staff to demonstrate these qualities every day:
  • Inspiration: aiding pupils to realise what they can achieve, having high expectations and setting a great role model
  • Innovation: looking for ways to reflect on what we can do, consistently making 1% gains and working with others
  • Integrity: being confidential with information, being trusted by all members of the school community and delivering on our promises
You too, as parents, are vitally important. The children will spend 87% of their year in your care, so your influence is vital. Having listened to feedback on what you think is important we believe that our parents and carers should:

1. Ensure that pupils arrive on time for school and ready to learn:
a. Parents will have provided their children with a healthy breakfast
b. Pupils will have warm clean clothing
c. Parents will make sure their children have the right equipment for school (book bag, reading record, PE kit)

2. Will support their children’s learning at home through:
a. Reading regularly
b. Helping them to practise their spellings and mental maths
c. Encouraging them in their interests

3. Will model politeness and kindness to everyone they meet

By ensuring we all do our job and show these behaviours consistently everyday we have a great chance of making a real difference to the life chances of our community! We will be discussing expectations for parents and the Vision & Values at our Parent Forums later this term.
