Mead Nursery newsletter week 2

       Term: Autumn 1                      Date: 29.09.16

Dear Parents and Carers,

Now that most of our children have started Nursery, we are delighted to welcome you to Mead Primary School. The Nursery Team look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure the best possible start for your children.

Each week you will receive a Nursery newsletter. This is to inform you of what the children will be learning in the coming week and to keep you up to date with relevant news.  There will be paper copies of the newsletter available as you enter the Nursery every week.. The Newsletter will also be published on the school website: http://www.mead.havering.sch.uk or by following the school face book page.

Over the next few weeks we will spend time with your children and help them to make new friends, learn new routines and feel confident in their new Nursery environment. Developing your child’s Personal, Social and Emotional skills will help them to feel confident and to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning.

We aim to ensure a smooth transition from home to Nursery. You may come into the Nursery and settle your child before leaving. If you are worried that children are not settling please talk to one of the Nursery team for advice.

Routines/Messages
As there is limited space to enter the Nursery Classrooms we kindly request buggies are left in the corridor area if you come into the Nursery classes with your child.
Please be patient whilst we learn names and faces of parents. It may take us longer initially to dismiss the children but children’s safety is our main priority. If parents/carers could wait by the exit door whilst we learn new names this would really help us. There will be another member of staff available slightly away from the entrance door so we can talk to you about any queries/questions you may have without blocking the exit.

At Mead children play outside in all weathers. Please make sure your child attends Nursery with a waterproof jacket each day. Additional hats/scarfs etc may be needed as the weather gets colder. Please be aware children may finish Nursery slightly messy or slightly damp from playing outside. We believe that children learn a great deal from playing in different weather conditions and please be assured that your children will not be left in soaking wet clothing for the whole session. If you would like to send spare clothes in to keep at Nursery incase of accidents please hand them to one of the Nursery staff in a named bag.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET INSET DAY 5TH OCTOBER. SCHOOL NOT OPEN TO PUPILS.

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
