A Viking visitor for year five.

Today has been a very exciting day for year five as they have had a Viking visitor. Thorgil the friendly Viking came into school today to tell year five about what it was like to be a Viking. The children became judges as they decided the fate of a family of a thief who stole bread to feed his family. They decided in the end that they would all be sold into slavery (this was one of the nicer options!). They all packed up their rooms (storage boxes) and then set sail to Danelagh (Britain) rowing most of the way as the winds were not on their side.

Thorgil needed a new thrall (slave) and he decided that Amelia in Mexico class would fit the bill. He tested her on her sewing skills and then he haggled with Mr Frith to buy her. In the end she cost two shells and two goats. Thorgil was so convincing as a Viking that Amelia had to confirm at the end that she had not really been sold as his slave. A great time was had by all.
