We started this academic year with a joint conference with Broadford staff. Joined by all teachers, support staff and Governors it was a fantastic opportunity to get all of the Federation team under one roof - something that won't happen very often.
The key aim was to refresh our Vision & Values statements so that everyone within the Federation knew what we are working towards and how we are going to get there.
The wards of Harold Hill that both schools serve are placed in the bottom 12% for poverty across the whole country. This has far reaching implications for the pupils and families who attend our schools everyday. Were you aware that typically pupils from areas with this level of deprivation will:

The wards of Harold Hill that both schools serve are placed in the bottom 12% for poverty across the whole country. This has far reaching implications for the pupils and families who attend our schools everyday. Were you aware that typically pupils from areas with this level of deprivation will:
- be more likely to come from single parent families
- have parents more prone to mental illness
- more likely to become obese during their childhood
- on average will live for up to 7 years less than their wealthier peers
- during their lifetime 17 more years will be unhealthy than their wealthier peers
- have parents who do not have aspirations for higher education
In this environment it was made very clear to our staff that we need to deliver an outstanding education if we are to give our pupils the chance to defy the odds and be able to complete their education and make their own choices about where they live, work and raise a family.
Our pupils will only spend 13% of their time with us at school. Therefore it is vital that parents and families are aware of how they can help, challenge and support their progress too. We will be providing support for parents on: online safety, curriculum standards and homework. We also have our values that will drive our everyday behaviours to ensure that
- Our pupils' socio economic background will not be a limiting factor in their achievement
- Our pupils will be able to read by the age of 6
- We will work closely with our community to achieve high standards in all we do
Through our Parent Forum, Parent View feedback, and conversations with you we will continuously promote this aspirations so that every member of our school community is aware of what we are working towards. We have already shown that great things are possible... and there is plenty more to come!
