Year 2 Forest School

Year 2 have been learning about bees in our Forest School sessions. The children have shown such a strong interest in the wildlife that lives among us outside and they wanted to help the bees by providing a shelter for them. We already have a bug hotel, so they wanted to make a special hotel for the bees to rest. We know how important bees are in our woodland!

We learnt about a new tool - loppers. We learnt how to use this tool safely, before we carefully measured and cut bamboo. The bee hotel took a few weeks to make and children from all classes helped to do this.

When they weren’t being wildlife warriors, children explored the forest, as well as building and digging. One group of children even made a pirate ship as we have been writing about pirates in Write Stuff! It’s a delight to see children so engaged in their Forest School sessions. 🐝🌳🍃
