Year 6 children have completed an unit about African drumming. They know all about the roots, context and cultural importance of music played on the Djembe in African society and they are very good at playing rhythmic patterns. They practised a multilayered piece and sang a song called ‘’Juba’’- an African-American plantation dance that was performed by slaves during their gatherings when no rhythm instruments were allowed.
