Weekly Newsletter - 8/3/24

Dear Parents and Carers,

We had a fabulous day participating in World Book Day, yesterday. We were blown away by the commitment from everyone. World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own. The children will each receive a book token to put towards purchasing a book, this can be used at our Book Fair in April. Please see below for more information about this.

Thank you to the Friends of Mead for arranging the Mothers Day sale this week.

Amersham Drive

We have been made aware that some parents are driving through to Amersham Road from Gooshays Drive. This is a traffic offence-Rule 145 of the Highway Code states You MUST NOT drive on or over a pavement, footpath or bridleway except to gain lawful access to property, or in the case of an emergency. Not only is this illegal, there is a very real possibility that a child could get seriously hurt. All neighbours are aware of how to report offences and as a school we encourage this to be reported to ensure the safety of all of our pupils. Illegal parking can be reported here https://www.havering.gov.uk/info/20004/parking/121/parking_tickets_and_traffic_fines/8
Changes to sQuid

We have been informed by Havering Catering Services that they are moving to a different payment system. From 3rd June, SQuid will no longer be in use and we will need to move all payments to a different system called Parent Pay. Parent Pay is more user friendly than SQuid but we know that this change, especially for a school of our size will take some time. We will be sending out further correspondence from Havering Catering Services and also offering some support sessions ahead of moving over to the new system. This will mean that Information and letters will only be sent via School Ping so please make sure that you have access. If you require any support for School Ping, please contact Mrs Parker, Senior Admin.

Book Fair

Mead School will be hosting a book fair between Tuesday 23rd April - Monday 29th April.

Please come along and purchase some new books for your children. Each book purchased will help our school to raise funds to put towards new books for the children in our school. The children will be able to use their £1 book token off of any book purchased. The book tokens will be given out to the children next week. Times and the location will be shared nearer the time. You can browse available books at https://shop.scholastic.co.uk/
