Weekly Newsletter - 3/11/23

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a very wet and windy start to the new half term but that hasn’t stopped the children getting back into their learning and working hard. This week our newly formed Pupil Parliament met to discuss their plans for the year ahead. They have decided on the fundraising that will take place across the year which will start with Children in Need. The theme this year is SPOTacular so children are encouraged to wear spots of bright colours to school on Friday 17th November. Pupil Parliament will be on hand to collect in donations.

Attendance Hub

On Thursday 9th November at 8:45am- 9:30am, we have our Multi Agency Drop in Hub which is hosted by the Education Welfare Officer, Carole Warrington. In this session she will be joined by Pauline from Peabody Housing Association. Peabody is a not-for-profit housing association and can provide advice and support with • Accessing benefits • Employment and training opportunities • Social Care needs • Housing needs • Managing rent arrears • Managing your home • Financial advice • Budgeting support • Support to access healthcare and well-being • Support to access mental health services • Volunteering opportunities • Helping you to become more independent and part of your local community. Please come to the main reception office to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.

Safer Streets Scheme

The Safer Street Scheme is now in place. The operational times are: 07:45 to 09:15 and 14:15 to 15:30. Please be mindful when parking in the surrounding roads that you do not block driveways or access to houses as this is an offence.

Reporting Absence

Please make sure that you inform the school of the reason for their child’s absence as soon as possible, ideally by 8-30am on each day of absence either by calling the school on 01708 343616 and press option 1 or emailing mail@mead.havering.sch.uk

If the school has not been notified by mid-morning of a child’s absence, we will contact you for more information. If no contact is made by the parent and the school cannot make contact with the contacts provided for the child, a home visit may be completed by school staff or the Attendance Service.

Christmas Fayre

The Friends of Mead are hosting a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 25th November 11am-3pm. There will be a non-uniform day on Friday 10th November in exchange of donations for the Tombola. Please see the information below.
