Jamaica class visit Waterstones

Yesterday, Jamaica class went out to Waterstones in Romford to exchange our World Book Day vouchers for a new book!

After watching the other two reception classes enjoy their trip so much, we were very excited for our turn on Wednesday morning!

We left school and walked sensibly down to the bus stop. Aum paid attention to a sign at the bus stop, saying "That's 294, so that's our stop!" the children then looked out carefully for the 294.
Everyone showed wonderful manners, letting members of the public board the bus first before safely getting on ourselves.

Jamaica class were thrilled to go up to the top deck where they enjoyed views of the local area!
Lots of the children commented on their previous experiences, Esther explained "This is where I do my swimming" while Hollie told us "I been on that train before, and my nanny lives down here!"

Upon arrival at Waterstones, we were greeted by a shop assistant and shown to where we could exchange our books. The children all waited very patiently to choose their book and demonstrated lovely manners, saying please and thank you.

Before leaving, we had time to read a story together in the story corner. Rubi and Poppy tried particularly hard to join in with the repeated refrains.

Finally it was time to head back to school. Aum was keen to keep everyone entertained suggesting "OK everyone, let's sing the wheels on the bus!" The children enjoyed a biscuit on the journey back and enjoyed sharing their new books with their peers.

Well done to Jamaica class for making your adults proud of you during our book day trip.
Bring on World Book Day 2021!
