Reception Newsletter Spring 2 Week 4

                                                                                                            15.03.20

We hope you are having a lovely weekend so far. The children had a great time on our trip to Waterstones exchanging their book vouchers we hope the children have enjoyed sharing their books with you. As part of British science week and to bring our topic on dinosaurs to a close, the children enjoyed being scientists creating their own erupting volcano.

This week we will begin our new topic on 'Superheroes'. To help celebrate Mother's Day we will be reading the story "My mum is a supermum" and other themed Mum books, to talk about all of the things our mums do and why we love them. On Friday we will be hoping to hold our 'Mother's day themed stay and play', this will depend on any updates we receive about the coronavirus ensuring we are in line with government guidelines but we would love for you to be able to come and join us and complete some activities with your child.

Can we remind you that our school council are working to reduce the use of single waste plastic bottles. If you can try and send your child in with a refillable bottle instead, we would be grateful. School council are running a competition to encourage the children to design posters to encourage the children to bring in refillable bottles.

In Read, write inc the children are settling into their new groups and progressing well at their own level.

In maths this week we will be learning about 2D shapes and reinforcing our 3D shape names. Please continue to send in any maths challenges your child completes at home, it is lovely for them to share their learning with their peers.

We thank your continued understanding and cooperation in leaving pushchairs at the door. We are now seeing quite a few of our children coming into school independently. Thank you for supporting your child`s independence. We will continue to praise the children that manage to do this on their own.

Coronavirus Update

We are receiving daily updates about the coronavirus implication for schools.

We will keep you informed about any developments and ensure we are keeping the school clean to prevent the spread of any virus.

We are encouraging more thorough handwashing for the children.

In order to prevent the spread of infection make sure you and your children follow these general principles to prevent spreading any respiratory virus:

Wash your hands often – with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water aren’t available
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
If you feel unwell, stay at home and don’t attend work or school
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the home.
