We hope you are having a lovely weekend and we look forward to another busy week at school.This week our focus story will be Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae. A lovely story about a giraffe who feels his legs are too long to dance but with belief realises you can do anything you want to do.
We will also be thinking about Father`s Day or men who are inspirational in the children's lives.
We look forward to welcoming you into school on Friday to make a range of Fathers Day crafts.
Sessions will run between 9.00 and 10.30 and 1.00 and 2.30.We really hope you can join us.
The tiny caterpillars arrived at the end of last week and the children will have the opportunity to watch their development from tiny caterpillar through to butterfly. This will teach the children about life cycles as they watch them as they enter into their chrysalis state before emerging as butterflies and we release them into our outside area.
Thank you again for your continued support and cooperation in encouraging your child to come in of a morning independently, it is much appreciated and will help in their transition into Year 1. The majority of children are now managing this very well and enjoying the satisfaction of being able to do this.
A little reminder Wednesday is our PE day, please ensure your child has their named PE kit in school. We have a lot of lost property accumulating in school which cannot be returned to their rightful owner as they are unnamed.
When/if we have warmer weather could you please ensure your child comes to school with a sun hat and water bottle. Please also apply sun cream before they enter school on really hot days you can send the sun cream in their book bag and we can encourage them to reapply before lunchtime.
If your child has needed a change of clothes, could you please ensure these are sent back into school as we now have no spare clothes in school!

Messages –
- Your child came home with a Technology questionnaire, could you please ensure you complete this and return to their teacher by Friday.
- If you received a GDPR form to complete, please could you ensure this is returned ASAP.
- PLEASE NAME all items of clothing. This will help when returning lost items, particularly jumpers and cardigans with the right child. We are still accumulating a large number of items. Please check your child’s class if they are missing something.
- Our PE days are Wednesday. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school. If they wear earrings they need to be removed on this day.
- Thank you to all those parents who have sent in a named set of spare clothes. If you haven’t yet could you please ensure your child has a named set of spare clothes and underwear on their peg as soon as possible. Please note this does not need to be school uniform.
- Children can also bring in a pair of named wellies to leave in school. This would be great for use in the mud kitchen and on rainy days.
- Please actively encourage your child to put away their book bag and hang up their coat in the morning. It would also be really helpful if you could discuss the menu choices with your child the previous night to help them independently find their cupcake and make their lunch choice.
- Please can you ensure that if your child is not in school for any reason you call the school to report the absence. This saves the office staff a lot of time spent in making phone calls.
Please remember the homework expectation in Reception is to read every day and learn the red words. If you would like further homework please complete the Learning Challenge.
Learning Challenge
Each half term we will be setting our pupils a challenge related to their learning. We believe that it is important for us to provide guidance for parents on how their children's learning can be extended at home.
The learning challenge will include either a nursery rhyme, famous person, illustration or a piece of music. Please talk to your child about the challenge and help them to engage in their learning. The children can choose how they present their learning challenge outcomes to their teacher or class.
