Cheep, Cheep, Cheep!

Year 2 welcome some new additions.

Monday we had a special delivery. As Students arrived on Tuesday they were excited to see what was behind the barrier. It might have looked like someone's lunch, but there was something special growing inside.

Arriving at school on Wednesday we could hear cheep, cheep, cheep! Would you believe it one chick had hatched overnight. Year 2 as well as staff waited impatiently as another egg began to crack. Over the day the cracks grew larger as the small chick inside tried to escape.

Sadly we all had to go home before it had hatched.  It still hadn't hatched when the teachers went home.

This morning children were apprehensive to see if the chick had finally hatched. They were treated to not 1, not 2, but 3 little chicks. 2 were girls and 1 was a boy.

Do you know how to tell apart the female and male chicks?

A forth chick is in the process of hatching. We wait to see if more will hatch.
