World Book Day in Brazil

On World Book Day, Year 6 focused on the book 'Goodnight Mr Tom' by Michelle Magorian which is set in World War II. During the day the children engaged in a range of activities. Initially we looked at the main characters of Willie and Mr Tom. Willie is a child who has been evacuated. In order for them to truly understand this experience the children had the opportunity of listening to audio clips of children who were evacuated and their host families. Also, we looked at life in wartime and the children worked in groups to create their own Anderson shelter. They worked well and the results were fantastic!
