Guide dogs Julia and Maple say 'Thank you'

Today the children had some very important visitors.

Julia and Maple brought their owners to school to talk about training and working with guide dogs. The children sat beautifully during the assemblies.

Did you know most guide dogs are labradors, retrievers or labrador/retriever crosses?

This is the amazing total raised by the children of Mead during the 1p coin trail, which was donated to the Guide Dogs charity. There were a total of 20,616 one pence coins in the amount raised, the balance was made up from an assortment of other coins (and yes, we did have to count all of them!).

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Maple is a 2 year old guide dog who lives and works with her owner, Janet.
Did you know? It takes two years to train a guide dog!

Julia is 12 and is now retired, enjoying a wonderful life full of treats and strokes.
Did you know? Most guide dogs work until they are 9 years old!
