Forest School Survival Challenge

This week in Forest School the children took part in a survival challenge!
3 groups each set up a base for a night in the woods. What will they need? Shelter, fire, protection, food and entertainment.

The groups set to work and built a range of shelters with varying features. One had a fence as a boundary, along with a sling shot to be used in order to protect themselves and get some food.
All 3 groups had a fire and when asked why this was needed, the responses included,
"To keep us warm,"
"To keep animals away,"
"To cook food,"
"As a light."
Some groups made areas for beds, toilets were considered, seating areas were constructed and a ball was found for entertainment while others made a sea saw. Food was made from collecting shells.
It was a busy afternoon!
