Shape, shape what's that shape....?
This week Reception have been learning all about 2D shapes. We identified all the names of our 2D shapes and their properties. We have learnt words such as 'corners, curved', straight, edges' to help us describe our shapes. 2D shapes are 'flat' and we tested this out in Barbados class by placing a shape in our palms and seeing if our hands could touch. To help us with our learning we have played 'Guess the shape' games, sang shape songs, made pictures and models using our shapes and even got to be shape detectives looking around our environment to see what shapes we could find. Sabina was very observant and identified a triangle on a child's work, she said "look, here is a triangle, it has 3 sides", Ruby noticed that the bottom of a water bottle was a circle shape. Great work, detectives!
