A cold day in Paradise!

Paradise Wildlife Park

Year 4 pupils had a chilly but never-the-less  exciting day out at the zoo this week.

Pupils learnt all about the layers of the rainforest- forest floor, understory, canopy and emergent layer.

They should be able to tell you which layer the following creatures live in-
parrot, anaconda, squirrel monkey, jaguar.

Pupils learnt about deforestation, and about what humans can do to help undo the damage they have done to many animal habitats .
Conservationists are trying to plant trees to create a corridor, to link together parts of the forest that have been isolated by trees being cut down. This allows animals to move through the trees and find other members of their species once again.

Pupils learnt lots of fascinating facts about big cats, pythons, meerkats and many other animals.

"I loved the male lion best, he had a fringe of fur called a mane, encircling his head," said fanatical fact finder, Briana!
