Weekly Newsletter - 06/10/23

Friday 6th October 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a lovely week at Mead which has included lots of maths! Year 1 and 2 have been working on their understanding of maths concepts through the Mastering Number Programme and have enjoyed learning how to use their Rekenreks. I am sure that they will be able to tell you all about it at home.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to the Harvest Appeal. We will be continuing to collect donations for the Trussell Trust Harold Hill Food Bank to celebrate Harvest Festival throughout next week. Children can bring in food donations to their classrooms.

Thank you to everyone who has stopped scooting across the school grounds. There have been some issues around the KS2 gate in particular this week so please make sure that you come off the scooters before entering the school grounds. Thank you.

Parents Evenings

We are looking forward to sharing all of the wonderful things your children have been learning with you during parents evening on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th October. Your child’s teacher will send out their availability via Ping this week. If you are unable to attend your parents evening appointment please let your child’s teacher know in advance where possible. All KS2 appointments will be held in the dining hall.

Reception Open Days

Please book through the school website. The link can be found on the bottom of the home page. The next dates are Monday 16th October @10am and Wednesday 1st November @1:30pm

World Mental Health Day

We will be taking part in World Mental Health Day on the 10th October to raise awareness of mental health and driving positive change for everyone’s mental health. As part of ITV's new initiative from the UK's most recognised mental health campaign, Britain Get Talking every British school will join in to create an important national conversation - and in doing so, help all British children share what’s on their minds through this unique homework exercise. Ant and Dec will be joined by other famous faces throughout the campaign, with celebrities encouraging Britain to Get Talking. Watch out for the homework activity so you and your child can participate.
